As of 2026 there are 17 WTA 500 events, played on hard, clay and grass courts around the world β among them the Brisbane International, Abu Dhabi, Stuttgart and Berlin. The category was created in the WTA’s 2021 schedule overhaul, which renamed the tour’s tiers to mirror the men’s ATP structure; these events were previously known as WTA Premier tournaments.
Although they rank below the WTA 1000s, the 500s carry serious ranking points and prize money β one event’s purse has grown to around $1.5 million β and regularly draw the world’s best. The current era has been led by Aryna Sabalenka π§πΎ, alongside Coco Gauff πΊπΈ, Iga ΕwiΔ tek π΅π± and Elena Rybakina π°πΏ. See below for WTA 500 Predictions π₯
