As of 2026 there are 22 WTA 250 events, the largest single group on the calendar, played on hard, clay and grass courts all over the world. The category was created in the WTA’s 2021 schedule overhaul β the same revamp that aligned the tour’s tiers with the men’s ATP system β having previously been known as WTA International tournaments.
With fields a level below the bigger events, the 250s are often where emerging players win their first tour-level titles and where established names find form and rebuild ranking points.
